I would like to thank the Fianna Fáil membership who have nominated me to contest this convention. I feel honoured that the grassroots membership of the party feel that I have the qualities to be a Dáil candidate and a potential TD,” commented Cllr Collins.“Having consulted with the membership it is my view that the Fianna Fáil party should run two candidates in the four-seat Limerick City constituency. Fianna Fáil needs to build on our recent success in the local elections, where we are now the biggest party at local level across the country.”Cllr Collins concluded: “I do not agree with the one general election candidate strategy for Limerick City decided by the National Executive. I will however, accept their decision and will fully support Fianna Fáil in the general election campaign.” TAGSCllr James CollinsFianna Fáilgeneral election 2016limerickLimerick CityLimerick City and County Council WATCH: “Everyone is fighting so hard to get on” – Pat Ryan on competitive camogie squads Linkedinlast_img read more
